Monto Meets Big Blue

Dr. Monto rolled through Orlando last week with Duke Orthopaedics at the AAOS annual meeting (and you thought John Madden had a problem...)

Monto named President.

Dr. Monto assumed the role of president of the medical staff at Nantucket Cottage Hospital.  He begins a two-year term and joins the Hospital's Board for the duration of his tenure.   In a recent interview, Dr. Monto said, "We will continue to focus on becoming the best rural hospital in the United States.  The key components to reaching this goal are to move forward with the design and construction of a new medical building and to continue the development our excellent medical staff and services."

Dr. Monto Lectures at Knee Expert Meeting in Spain

Dr. Monto gave the keynote speech and a full day of instructional courses at this summer's European Knee Experts Meeting in Mallorca, Spain.  Lecturing to a sold-out audience, he discussed many facets of knee surgery including prosthetic design, soft-tissue procedures, alternatives to joint replacement, and current controversial issue in this fast moving field.

Piedmont Orthopedic Society Awards Dinner 2015

Dr. Monto lectured at the Piedmont Orthopedic Society of Duke University on the evolution and future of the complex doctor-patient relationship.  His provocative lecture, "In Sickness and In Health", was one of the highlights of the 63rd Annual Meeting of the group held this year at the Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia.

Dr. Monto attends MLS conference

Fort Lauderdale was the host for this meeting of soccer physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists held in conjunction with the MLS Draft Combine.  The meeting focused on a broad range of topics including hamstring injuries and orthobiologic treatments.

Tennis Elbow Breakthrough!

Dr. Monto's landmark study represents the first scientific evidence that the use of suture anchors to repair chronic severe tennis elbow is more effective than the old procedure of simple surgical cleanup.  The paper, "TENNIS ELBOW REPAIR WITH OR WITHOUT ANCHORS: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL," was published in the prestigious medical journal, Techniques in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

2014 Piedmont Orthopedic Society

Greece was the host for the 62nd annual meeting of the Duke University orthopedic surgery alumni group.  Dr. Monto was the moderator for the section on operating room safety and innovation and was named to the Society's executive committee.
